Home, Sweet Home!

Well, it’s been a whirlwind month, but thirty days after Dan drove away from Cody to begin his 8,000 mile drive around the country, we’re all back with our families in familiar surroundings! What an excellent adventure – and here are a few pictures to show just how much fun we had!

LANDSCAPES

Dan drove from Texas to Virginia to Arizona… and boy, did we see some country!

PLAYING TOURIST

From the Antietam Battlefield in Maryland to downtown Nashville, Tennessee, we really tried to experience our country’s varied cultures!

VENUES

We played in some AMAZING theatres! And churches… and RV parks… and in hotel rooms and friends’ homes!

ON THE ROAD

The longest we stayed at one hotel was three nights – otherwise it was every day or every other day that we drove and moved into another hotel. We got really good at living out of our suitcases!

PERSONALITIES

And we had FUN! Stephanie is our “class clown” – Shelbi is always up for adventure. Wendy is the den mother – Dan is our fearless leader.

So now we’re going our separate ways again – Shelbi is spending the winter with her family in California; Stephanie is studying for her real estate exam and hanging with her folks in Billings, Montana; Wendy is reporting news from northwest Wyoming; and Dan is getting ready to hit the road again in a couple of weeks to host National Finals Tonight in Las Vegas. We look forward to joining up again in February and bringing the show to venues in Texas and New Mexico!

So… Where Are We Now??

My GOODness, what a whirlwind tour we’ve had so far!

Our October trips were short and sweet – a weekend in Wenatchee, four days in Texas and Louisiana.

But November… well, that’s another story!20191031_154818

After Wendy, Shelbi and Stephanie departed Billings on Halloween, and Dan picked them up in Washington, D.C. that night, we’ve been on the road again, going places that we’ve never been, seeing things that we may never see again… and loving every moment!

20191101_122935In Culpeper, Virginia, we explored the beautiful historical downtown, and took a few hours to hike around the woods and trails of that lovely town.

The concert on November 2nd was WONDERFUL! 950 or so folks were in attendance that night, a classy and welcoming crowd.

20191102_191640The morning of the 3rd we loaded up Dan’s truck and made our way to Harwood, Maryland, about two hours down the road. Our mid-afternoon performance was also well-attended, and Wendy and Stephanie were thrilled to have friends come to the matinee!

After the Harwood performance, 20191103_144511we once again drove two hours, this time to Hagerstown, Maryland. What a bustling city, with a very different – yet equally historical – downtown.

We were amazed to find out that the bloody battle of Antietam happened just ten miles down the road, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit that hallowed ground. Wendy was a history major in college, so for her 20191104_125544it was her college education come to life… and the rest of the group was equally interested in spending a couple of hours immersing themselves in America’s past.

The concert in Hagerstown Monday was fabulous – for the third day in a row, the crowd was on its feet with a standing ovation for us by the end of the performance! 20191104_152750And what an AMAZING venue – the Maryland Theatre is by far the most classical location we’ve played.

The last few days have been driving-adventuring-driving! We skirted the Appalachian mountains all day Tuesday, ending the 12-hour drive with a visit to one of Dan’s incredibly gifted friends, Jackie Miller, and his lovely wife Cindy.

20191102_112543Jackie is one of THE premiere bluegrass fiddlers/mandolin players in Nashville, and is also one of the most highly respected luthiers in the business! He restores fiddles, guitars, mandos, anything with strings… and he took a few hours Tuesday evening to give a fiddle lesson to the girls!

Wednesday was NASHVILLE DAY!! 20191106_105742Lower Broadway, the Parthenon, J. Alexander’s for lunch and a brisk walk through the Opryland Hotel Atriums! Steph and Shelbi took in the night life, listening to a fabulous band perform at one of the honky-tonks downtown.

Thursday – another 12-hour driving day. And it’s RAINING. But tomorrow we’ll be in sunny Texas, getting ready for our next performances in McKinney and Greenville! 20191106_110006

We sure appreciate all the prayers you’ve been surrounding us with – please continue to think of us as we travel this week and next, and if you’re in any of the following places, come see us!

McKinney, Texas – tickets $50 for the individual performance; $120 for season tickets (purchase at door)

Heading East!

Well, it’s time to “head ’em up and move ’em out” once again – Dan is on the road, and Wendy, Stephanie and Shelbi will be taking off Thursday morning, flying to Virginia and Maryland for three shows this weekend!

It’s been an amazing tour so far, we’ve met such wonderful people! And the audiences have been phenomenal, we are beyond blessed to bring our music to folks across the country.

This weekend we’ll be in Culpeper, Virginia (November 2nd, 7:30 p.m.), Harwood, Maryland (November 3rd, 3 p.m.) and Hagerstown, Maryland (November 4th, 7:30 p.m.). If you’re in the area, please make it a point to come to the show!

Here are more details on tickets: 20191022_144439

Culpeper – tickets are available at the door (Culpeper High School) for $25 each.

Harwood – a limited number of tickets will be available at the door at Southern High School for $25 each (first come, first served).

We hope to see you on the road!

“Making Music With My Friends”

That Willie Nelson song really had it right –

“On the road again
I just can’t wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin’ music with my friends
And I can’t wait to get on the road again

On the road again
Goin’ places that I’ve never been
Seein’ things that I may never see again
And I can’t wait to get on the road again

Here we go, on the road again
Like a band of Gypsies we go down the highway
We’re the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turnin’ our way”

Truck in Terrell

And that’s what we’re doing here in Terrell, Texas! Our show tonight will be at the Terrell ISD Performing Arts Center at 400 Poetry Road (what a great address!).

Although you can’t purchase individual tickets, we’ve been told that a season pass is only $50 ($45 for seniors) – and that price will get you into other great concerts later on this year!

If you’re in the area, come see us in Terrell TONIGHT!

Thank you, Wenatchee!

What an AWESOME turnout in Wenatchee, Washington! Over 650 people were in attendance, according to the Community Concert Association, one of their biggest crowds ever for a Community Concert.

Wenatchee trio

We are grateful to James Wallace, the tech director at Wenatchee High School, and his young crew, who made it a great experience on stage, and a fantastic, responsive audience.

And the town was beautiful! Having never traveled to Wenatchee before, it was a lovely surprise to see the majestic Columbia River winding through the city. Great restaurants, fabulous lodging, and friendly people made it a memorable trip.

Next up – Terrell, Texas and Morgan City, Louisiana on the 22nd and 24th of October, respectively. When you come, get ready to welcome the newest member of our band, Stephanie Wilson! You can read more about her on our “About the Band” page.

On the Road – Tour 2019 Begins!

And… we’re off!

Sunrise Cody 10-4-19

Dan and Wendy left Cody early this morning (Friday), to officially begin the Dan Miller Cowboy Music Revue 2019 Tour! We made a stop in Billings to pick up our newest band member, Stephanie Wilson, who won’t be on stage with us this weekend, but who will be getting a taste of life on the road.

Steph Wendy 9-29-19She’s been practicing with us for the last month, preparing for the remainder of the tour, beginning in Terrell, Texas at the end of this month! Stephanie played an evening with Wendy and Dan on Sunday evening at the Holiday Inn. She’s going to do great!

We’ll be picking Hannah up in Missoula this evening, she’ll be playing this weekend in Wenatchee, Washington! Until then, we’ll be crossing the state of Montana today – check out this amazing view of the Crazy Mountains!

It’s going to be a great trip – stay tuned to our website and our Facebook page for updates along the way!

TripAdvisor – We Just Had to Share!

We have had some FABULOUS TripAdvisor reviews – and a lot of those came from this last weekend’s performance in Shipshewana at the Blue Gate Theatre. We just had to share!

From our Shipshewana show:

Came for a concert, got there early enough for the buffet. Food was good. Concert was GREAT!!!! Well worth the three hour drive and three hour drive back! Will definitely be back!

Show was done very well. Excellent talent. Relaxing day. Food before was delicious. Loved shopping before the show. Took yummy baked goods home to enjoy.

And some reviews from this summer for our show right here in Cody:

Very talented trio. Music was great, humor was off the cuff and witty. Intimate seating provided personal feeling of welcome. We had the combination dinner/show and it was a very good value.

LOVED this show—will go again someday. Small theatre, very intimate feel. Loads of talent on that small stage. We had a meal at the IRMA HOTEL before the show.

Dan Miller and show is a great night out in the heart of Cody. Ticket costs are very moderate for an excellent show. Musicians extremely talented. Theater is small and can get filled if there are bus tours. This is not a chuckwagon type show so if you do that show, you will not see a repeat. Dan and company have been performing together many years and it shows. Definitely a true find in Cody!

My husband and I booked this show while camping in the Cody area and are so glad we did !!! Dan, his youngest daughter, Hannah and Wendy sing beautiful harmony together. Dan and Wendy on their guitars and Hannah on her mandolin and fiddle did not disappoint. The show is entertaining with stories, western songs, love songs and cowboy ballads. But my favorite was the poem, My Cup has Overflowed. Don’t miss this 8 pm show in downtown Cody next to the famous Irma Hotel !!! It’s the best !!!!!

Thank you, Shipshewana!

Our first “road gig” for 2019 is in the books! We had a sold-out, standing-room-only house at the Blue Gate Theatre in Shipshewana, Indiana on August 31st.

Shipshewana is such an interesting place – a largely Amish settlement, the small town Amish buggyhas capitalized on the appeal of Amish goods, and draws thousands to the theatres, shops and restaurants.

The town is home to several convention center hotels, and on any given weekend visitors can see the likes of Trace Adkins, the Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny G and Shoji Tabuchi at both the Blue Gate Theatre and the Shipshewana Events Center.

We played the night after Moe Bandy (who we had also been on the Larry’s Country Blue Gate Garden InnDiner Cruise with last year), and although the owner of the Blue Gate had never heard of us, our fans, family and friends made sure that he will remember us after Saturday’s show!

The support from folks, many of whom had driven HOURS to see us, was overwhelming – what a gift! Thanks, Indiana, for welcoming Dan home!

(Yes, his mother really is from Indiana.)

Only A Few More Days with Hannah!

If you’d like to see our Hannah perform yet this summer, there are only a handful of days left before she heads off to the University of Wyoming for her senior year.

Tonight (Thursday, August 15), tomorrow, and then next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (August 20-22) will be her final nights here in Cody for the 2019 season. After that we have a couple of very special musicians who will bring their talents to the stage throughout the month of September – more on them later, but we promise, you won’t be disappointed!

We wish Hannah well as she heads off to Laramie – Happy Trails, dear!
